I have my dash pulled, it was a flat black from the factory. I'm considering painting it gloss, as I've seen in many restorations, but I'm concerned that the top of the dash will reflect too much onto the windshield. Has anyone done gloss finish on their dash and noticed significant glare? 8)

The original finish was a suede type finish to prevent the glare you mentioned. Maybe a flat color?

Or "satin' or "eggshell"? If you are using fizz-can paint, check with your biggest hardware store around. If using canned automotive paint, your paint supplier can add a flattener compound to cut the gloss.

You don't want any shinny finish on top of dash unless you like to admire its image reflected onto windshield in sunlight. Check Duplacolor spray paint line for flat black.

I painted mine the same color as the rest of the body and the summer glare was terrible! If you go that route, you'll need to spray it with matte finish clear.

I am a big fan of covering the dash with fabric, like gorilla fur. That has no glare. Then again, my tastes are out of the ordinary.

DashMat makes a nice product for the dash top.
