Hello everyone. I plan on replacing the cancel cam for my turn signal switch in my 1970 Dodge Dart. Since the Dart is a 1970, this is the first year where the ignition key is in the steering column.

1) How do I remove the trim ring cap from my steering wheel? It seems to turn about 1/8 of a turn counter clockwise, but then jams up pretty hard, and I'm afraid of breaking something if I turn harder.

2) Since this model has the steering wheel lock, will I need the tool to press down on the pressure plate to remove a clip once I get the wheel off?

If anyone could help direct me to a good detailed guide, I'm sure I could do this job, I just have my worries about it I guess.

Rotate the cap/ring and then look for screws on the back side of it? Charlie has a great idea there...

Sadly the manual was not a help at all. The only thing the manual said was:
"Remove the horn ring ornament assembly"

I already knew that needed to be done, I just wasn't sure how. However, I did figure it out. I needed to remove the little horn ring Dodge emblem in the center. To do this, you need to gently pry it out with a flat blade screwdriver on the left side. Work the center emblem out on the left side because on the right side is an alignment tab that could be damaged if pried out on the right side.

While in there, I was able to find out that I was not the first person to dive into the steering wheel on this car. The horn button had two different style of screws holding it on.
