Hello,
I have a factory AM radio in my ‘72 Valiant. The original speaker under the dash is blown out. Disintegrating. It appears to be about a 3x9 dimensionally. I have not been able to find something comparable. Any ideas? I would prefer to keep this interior stock.
Thanks

I suspect that the speaker you want is actually a 4x10. That is a normal size. Haven't had a 72 in my stable in a long time so I cant recall or check its size.

They used the 4x10 in the dash on many models over the years
My 78 fury has it as well
Thee used to be a member here who made a plate that would bolt in place of the original speaker and would house 2 (I think 4") round ones and be hidden by the original speaker grill. He offered them for sale here on the forum, back then. I haven't seen him post in forever/ about that or anything else.

Thanks guys. Ok I will look for a 4x10. Have a silly 6x9 zip tied under the ashtray. Did new carpet and seats, so trying to make it look great once again.

I've had good luck with retro sound speakers. Have them in my 64 Dart and 66 D100.

I actually bought one of those plates for our old '73 Duster. It worked great. They wouldn't be hard to reproduce.
