Dear Slant Sixers, We will have our winter awards and planning banquet on the weekend of March 3, 2018. This will be at Christine's and my house in Blacksburg, VA. I hope we can have a big turnout of racers, families, and anyone interested in Slant 6 racing! I posted some hotel info on the old site before it crashed, and I will do so again in a later post. I am working to put up a few folks/families at friends' houses, as well as at our house. Maybe we will have a bonfire one eve/night if the weather is good for that. There is a garage with tools and toys to enjoy or use. There is plenty of parking. I will be cooking some food, and others are welcome to use the kitchen of course. Angie and I will probably not be able to attend. Chase will be swimming in the NAIA National Championships in Columbus, GA that weekend. |

The boys have been swimming since 2005 and in those 12+ years I have chosen to do "car stuff" in lieu of exactly 4 times. I keep close count.  This is Chase's last year of college swimming. We missed the first three years because we were stationed in Germany. Yep, I gots ta have my priorities!

Glad to hear it, Greg! There are 5 hotels within 1.5 miles of my house, and many more within about 8 miles, and a bunch more within 12 miles (out on I-81). Orbitz.com is a good way to search these. The Microtel and Super 8 in Christiansburg (7-8 miles) are around $50/nt and are near the main mall and shopping area. Please ask me if you want help with booking. Hope we have a big turnout!! This is the same weekend that travel hockey playoffs start. I will know more in a few days. Depends on when and where the games are scheduled. |
