I have the springs off the race car (65 Valiant) and was going to install Poly bushing in everything. I pushed out the front rubber bushing and shell and went to install the Poly ones. However the Poly ones are 1 1/2" and the originals are 1 3/8" Anyone seen this? I thought that there were only 2 sizes. 1 1/2" and 2". That is all I am seeing available in the aluminum ones too. Any help appreciated.

Rick

Yep, I ran into the same thing when I put together my 66 Valiant. At that time there were no poly bushings in that size, available. I wound up using the rubber bushings from NAPA. Another option for race car only would be to have a set of metal bushings machined.

Can you chuck them in a drill or something to turn them down to fit? It doesn't seem like a huge difference to drop it down to the smaller size.

I may try that. Thanks Charlie, I thought I was able to read my caliper!

I just took them and spun them up against my belt grinder for a few minutes and they work fine. They also have a larger eye bolt so that is a plus too.

You may have to drill out the hangers...

Yeah, they fit the eye in the spring but needed drilled out for my hanger to fit through. The upper end of my hanger has a larger OD (1" I think) so the poly ones I have will not work. I have the tube through the frame that comes with the Mopar spring relocation kits. I will just reuse my rubber in that location unless I can find the right size poly's.

Since it is race car why not make or have some aluminum bushings made to use some of these: https://www.mcmaster.com/#plastic-bushings/=1d5j7rb on a tube that the bolt passes through?

I turned down a set once in a lathe for that spring eye size. Sounds like you figgered it out!
