Its lifespan is right up there with the verboten tactic of charging a battery sitting on bare concrete.

Hee, my Dad told me not to do that... :)

OMG, I'm not supposed to charge a battery on bare concrete...……

You mean I've been do it wrong for decades?

How about testing 9V batteries with your tongue?

wow, Never thought a Suspension post would:
1. Spark such a debate... usually that's in the ignition section of the forum.

2. Lead to battery speak.... wait that's also in the electrical section of the forum.

My take away, using analogies of gross arcaneness to make a point on the Slant six forum is at one's own risk.

 my "take away" is, jcc hasn't ever installed LCA gussets, but he's telling people why not to.
My car is a High-Mileage A-body (384K right now). The front end has only been rebuilt twice, both by me. On the first rebuild I noticed the "slop" in the lca adjuster and thats when I added the gussets and beefed up the welds on the bumper stop mounts.
This is not an improvement that you can feel in handling, but on assembly and adjustments it is.

1. Asking me a simple question would have likely reduced the uncertainty element of your "takeaway".
2. At this point in my life, I adhere to the theory I don't tell others what to do unless I sign their paycheck or have gun pointed at them.
I believe I have not strayed from that thinking on this thread.
3. I also understand people in life who mention the "emperor has no clothes", often take heat.
4. Regarding #1 above, IMO there are a few main defineable groups on this topic:
A. Those that simply don't care
B. Those who follow the herd and install LCA gussetts:
1. Those that remain in bliss
2. Those that defend their decision to the death without explanation
3. Those that wonder what the heck were they thinking
a. Those that remain silent
b. Those that openly seek further explanation if it exists after fact for their modification
C. Those that do their homework first by seeking sound guidance/reasoning
Having my big boy pants still on, another pertinent analogy I'll risk:
Reminds me of the age old debate, who has more willpower, the person who has never smoked, or the long time smoker who hasn't smoked in decades.
5. Didn't hear what the real problem was with the described, "looseness" when not installed and not under load, nor whether the gusset solved that particular issue.

This is one of those things that I really don't think is all that important, so let's just keep it light hearted and agree to disagree over the things like this. In the spirit of light heartedness!! :D :D

I really don't care :D And I probably would follow a herd! :D
I probably am in bliss :D And could not explain my decision even if I knew what it was! :D
I have remained silent, only to ponder, "what in the world was I thinking! :D
I would seek further explanation of the facts, if I was not in this bliss I am living in, and the fact that I quit doing homework when I graduated form High School!! :D :D

Now where did I put my Summit catalog!!   Heading to the garage to do some more work!!

When I was working on the Lemons car suspension the other day I noticed some lateral movement in one of the torsion bar pivots like is shown in one of the videos. We may cut and re-weld to tighten that up. I’ll confer with my other kilted team mates to reach a consensus... or not... :D

Your first line restates my point rather well actually. :D
