Chuck, real nice progress you're making on bringing the new board onstream. One question: is the old board going to remain in existence and accessible indefinitely? If not, a lot of "see this post, see this thread, see this topic" types of links will be broken forever.

Wah! I haven't thought that far ahead! I'm not sure that I can get the old board running on a new host because it uses an old PHP (and pbpBB) version. I'll have to put some brain cells to work on that.

Thanks for the kudos and heads-up.

Who are you hiding from?

Paparazzi... LOL... Sometimes when I'm reviewing posts I get a few (more than a few) users that want a one on one in real time about something and my PM box gets flooded (I'm sure Doc gets this all the time)...

When I'm hidden it allows me to get back to them when I get time, instead of being expected to respond in the here and now...

Where did you find that setting?

There's a check box in our user profile and settings. I notice there is now a setting when I log in to allow me to choose to be hidden for the session, so I'll use that and hope it fixes it.

Thanks for all the hard work getting the board up and running.

You're welcome! If you want to test it out, jump out and log back in hidden, then send me a PM. I'll see if you show up. (I may also see everyone because I am an Admin.)

I had several Saved messages with information I didn't want to lose, but they are all gone now.

Is there any way to retrieve those messages?

Sorry Rob, I can't get anything after 8/28.

Hmmm... These were all much older messages I had been saving for quite awhile. Bummer. :(

That is an unfortunate problem, one I am currently addressing. I suggest saving the data in a document on your computer to avoid future problems. If the data was in a PM from before 8/28, it should still be there. You might be able to contact the senders to see if they still have the data you need.

I have no Saved messages now. They were all older messages ranging from a couple months to a couple years or more old. I had copied some of it to Word documents, etc., but not all of it. There were attached links and stuff I wanted to save as well. Not a huge deal. Another lesson learned.

Try going to slantsix.org/forum_old and check your private messages there. I have had trouble copying data from the screen with Firefox, but it works OK in Chrome if you first click "Quote" and then copy the text.

I think I can grab a couple of them that I hadn't yet moved to the Save Box before 8/28... Thanks.

You should be able to access the Save box too.

I got most of them. I had moved most of them to the Save Box between 8/28 and the board crash. Thanks!

Glad you got some of them. This may help others who lost some PMs too!

OK, the board has been moved! I hope all is well. I had a glitch but just got it straightened out.
