I'm getting ready to pull head to see what is causing suck-back at tail pipe and would like to have a replacement oversize exhaust valve part number and supplier line up if needed. I installed new Engbuilder over sized ss valves in '08, and that outfit looks to be out of business. If someone knows of an off the shelf replacement, or something close a machinist can easily resize to make do, I'm all ears.

Now there is a good chance the valve is ok, not bent or burnt, and problem is with spring, or guide. All I know is # 5 & 6 plugs look to be a bit lighter in color compared to the other four leading me to suspect both were a bit lean due to suck-back during cylinder fill.

SI Valves have drop in valves . Do a search on here I know there are some threads about them.

Looks like in Si's new catalog the 1.70 intakes are SEV-2310-S and 1.44 exhausts are 2309-S... be careful as it looks like the part number for the standard size valves are 2310 and 2310 (no -S)

Lately I have been an extreme lazy-ass not wanting to do much. Yesterday I finally got it in gear, pulled off valve train, stuffed cylinder with a length of my finest clothesline and attempted to remove #6 & #5 exhaust valve springs. I could not get the keepers out, but was able to move valve up and down enough to feel it easily seat with a nice clean sounding clink. I now don't think sticky valve or bent valve is the problem, but perhaps a burnt valve or seat.

Looks like a head pull in in my near future, and a trip to Harbor Fright with birthday gift card for more jack stands as Corn Binder PU project is using all I have on hand.

SI told me they don't have any 1.70's in stock and are not sure when they will. That was a few weeks ago - interested in hearing if inventory has changed.

that's not good news... I wonder what Mopar V-8 has an valve close enough to use those as intakes (and have them turned and reground)?

Some Big Block exhaust valves are 1.74 and 3/8 stem. Cant remember how much longer they are though.

Just did a quick search and I think they are as follow:

4.869 Big Block
4.770 Slant 6

+.100? I think some people have used that much longer valves without problems. Someone will straighten me out if I'm wrong

They are about a quarter inch longer than a slant valve.

Matt I just looked at Summit and they listed a big block exhaust valve at 4.90 length. Others I have seen at 4.87.

I was just looking at the SI catalog where they list the big block valve length as 4.86" and the slant valve length as 4.64"
I have plenty of big block (and slant 6) valves on hand so it would be easy to double check.

I have not installed them yet, but going in the slant six head that I am building are a set of Ford 289 valves that I purchased from Josh225,,some time ago.
Intake SEV 2564 1.780 head diameter
Exhaust SEV 2563 1.450 head diameter
The length is 4.870
These have 5/16 diameter stems
