I am installing the Carter BBD carburetor on a 1986 Dodge D150 with the 225 cu in engine and the OEM cast iron 2BBL intake manifold. I have a Carter BBD with a 8217 0316 bowl tag. The carb has two slits in the carb base inline with the throttle shaft. I have two thin flange gaskets that match the slots in the carb base plate but I have two spacers to choose from. One black spacer is much thicker than the other and does not have the slits. The other spacer is thinner and brown and has slits matching the thin gaskets.

I intend to use the two slitted thin gaskets with the thinner brown spacer sandwiched between the slittled thin gaskets. Is this the right arrangement of the flange gaskets? Or should I use one thin slitted gasket and the thicker black spacer? I can't find any diagrams the illustrate the arrangement of the flange gaskets for the Carter BBD.

The carb rebuild kit diagram just shows one of the thin slotted flange gaskets, but the kit came with the brown thinner spacer and TWO of the thinner slitted flange gaskets and one unslitted thin flange gasket. I believe the carb base plate slit has to do with idle vacuum so I want to get the flange gasket arrangement correct.

The carb in picture has no notches, so it would have needed notched gaskets.

Second carb has notches in carb base,so solid gasket,no notches would work.
