Lots of folks have ideas on what to do with your combo.

Holding off on answering this until a moderator moves it to the correct forum. This is not the place for technical questions.

Whats recomended for intake, headers, possibly a 4 barrel carb but I know if I put the 4 barrel on I'm going to have to change the cam shaft.

First things first. Save yourself some time and a lot of money and headache. See what kind of shape the drive train is in before you spend the first dime. Do a compression test. Check the valve lash. See if the timing chain is worn out. If all that is good, then figure out howyou plan on using the car. Much advice will flow forth on these pages if we know what you want the car to do. Drag strip occasionally but a daily driver? Daily driver but more power than stock? Is your dream to make the most of every gallon of gas and have it last a million miles?

Welcome on the board. As soon as you can, get the three books listed in this thread. Tune-up parts and technique suggestions are in this post; you'll want to go through and make sure all that maintenance/tune-up type stuff is done properly to see how the engine really runs before you start thinking of upgrades.

Once you've done that (and checked the basic health of the engine with a compression test and a quick check for timing chain slack as described here), then would come time to start thinking about upgrades. There's a lot of "low-hanging fruit" (upgrades that can be done with relatively low effort and expense); probably the first items on that list are the Fuel line mod and the HEI upgrade.

Also keep in mind that the engine bay's not the only place you should be looking at/thinking about upgrades; see here.
