Anyone have this problem, my hedman headers 6-1, come in contact with the pitman arm, ( manual steering). Headers are ceramic coated so I'm hoping I don't have to "finesse" the pipe. Is there a smaller profile arm that can be utilized? Thanks |

Wrong forum, but I've had problems with the clifford long tube headers hitting the end of the arm when steering in my '76 Duster... You will need a 3 lb hammer and massage a dent in the offending tube to miss the arm.... |

Yes, I realized after I put it in the wrong forum..lol..for some reason I have a hard time navigating here..lol Thx for replying so quickly. Any idea what damage itll do to ceramic coating? |

I don't know how much room you need, but playing with the motor mounts and shifting the engine around might get you some room. |

Spool mounts are captured unless he wants to burn the bushings out and weld some offset washers in place... but that would start to jack the transmission to the top of the seam at the firewall and tunnel and he'd get vibration under the dash, and I've done this to big block demo derby cars with spool mounts and the vibration through the K-member isn't nice either...the captured spool tranny tailshaft mount will allow a little angle but would need to be modified as well to tip the tailshaft down a bit to get more up angle on the engine...the sandwich mounts are nicer since you can shim those a bit... I put the hard poly bushings in my motor mounts to keep them from sagging or having excessive movement during launch, and it's just how that pipe clears... needs about a 1/2" dent or a cut and weld work around... it's worse for us guys with the Z-bar in that area too... |
