Comp Cams 264s cam
Comp cams Solid lifters (lighter than stock)
Comp cams high energy timing chain kit

Super six intake (2bbl carter)

Okay. Thanks for the reply. I thought there would have been more horsepower :D what are the easiest ways to add more? (Without turbo or EFI)

Did you do any unshrouding of the valves or put in oversize valves? I doubt you are at 158 HP honestly. That would be about 60 more horsepower than it actually had stock.

Two 5" exhaust deducts 10 HP! :D :D Just kidding

Exactly, more noise more power :D no i didnt do anything to valves. How much difference would it make if i put 318 valves in there and make unshrouding for them?

I am not really good at guessing HP, but others on here will chime in. With everything else being as it is now and going to oversize valves and opening up the bowl area under the valve I would say 15-20 HP as a wild guess. But there are definitely better choices than the 318 valves. Do a search on here.

The best way to make your car feel like it has more horsepower is to lower the rear end ratio. If you do much spirited driving the 7 1/4" rear will be laying in the road anyway. Upgrade to a bolt in 8 1/4 and a lower ratio rear than you have and you will feel a big difference. I am assuming it has pretty high gears in it now??

You are probably close to 105-110HP at the rear wheels...as a high ball park number...

The reason I say that is My Son's Aspen build is the following:

9.4:1 compression
O/S Valves and Street Porting on a non-AIR 1976 Peanut plug head
Offy intake, holley 390 cfm carb (52/54 jetting, 10.5 PV, and Purple Spring)
Dutra Duals with 2" ID pipe and true duals out to back with Turbo Mufflers
Comp Cam 264 installed at 102 intake centerline.
Custom recurved super six distributor
A904 with Reman 3000 rpm stall convertor
8 1/4" 3.21 Sure Grip Rear End, with 205/70R14 tires...

Best reverse engineer at the track was 124 HP at the rear wheels using known weight and 1/4 mile ET, thanks to Dave M and his handy 'Speed' Calculator...18.092 @75.XXX Mph...and a 3700+ lb car...

Your pinch points or lack of data is your static compression ratio, cam centerline, your smaller carb, your stock valves (bigger won't help with the smaller 2 barrel as much...unless you move to a bigger 2 barrel or small 4, then the valves and porting will be the issue...), Rear Axle Ratio (2.76?) and stall convertor (stock?)...

Thanks for good answer. So things to do next is 4 barrel, head porting and bigger valves? And different axle ratio? What rear axle would be good?

this article has been posted previously here at .org

https://www.hotrod.com/articles/slant-s ... slant-six/

it is probably the best comparison available when discussing gains from 2 bbl, 4bbl
carbs and headers..

What is your current ratio, and what are you goals for the car. Gas mileage an issue....etc.

Gas mileage no issue. Goal is to get fast start and terrify SB chevys :D I think ratio is now 2.7X? Its Aspen stock 7 1/4. Have to check ratio tomorrow...

Yep... that's a heavy car to throw... to start scaring a small block street
Nova, you will need a nice shot of nitrous and a lot better rear end ratio...
and some transmission updates...or a lot of boost... and a diet...
