When you remove camshaft sprocket there is a hole or port. Is there meant
to be a plug in this or is it left open.

There is a threaded one which should have a plug... that one is the oil pressure gallery.

The other one is a drain from the front lifter valley. No threads... no plug it drains onto the chain.

Thanks Greg,
That’s a great help, can you also advise me on the harmonic balancer.
I under stand it is pressed on the crank shaft and key way and it does
not have a securing bolt. But does the balancer go all the way onto
Shaft having taken some measurements the balancer appeares that it
will overlap the end.
Regards Franko

The balancer is a "press" fit on the crank. Most people use a bolt and large washer to draw (press) the damper on, if not having a installation tool. Some hammer it on, but that is not desirable. The end of the crank does not come out to the end of the balancer, when the balancer is fully seated.

I bolt on the water pump/fan pulley and crank the balancer in until the belt grooves line up by eye.

(I might not be the best person to take advice from.)
