I have heard that the factory mechanical rocker arms are notorious for not actually being a true 1.5 ratio. What is the best method to check for checking the ratios of these rocker arms?

The rocker ratio is the proportional distance of the push rod side of the rocker to the valve side of the rocker with the rocker shaft as the centerline.

A garage bench method to chech the rocker ratio is to mount a rocker on a shaft, have a dial gauge zeroed on the valve side, preferably at the valve contact point, then move the push rod side a known distance. The valve side should have moved 1.5 times what the push rod side moved.
