New at working on my 74 Dart. Simple question here about the connection to my oil sender. Found wire dangling. Looks like it has a blade connector on the end. I can see what looks like the sender contact just below the oil filt. It is the “disc” type... like a little disc on a little pedestal. It’s new to me, but I’m guessing you guys will know immediately what I mean. Anyway.. question is: does the blade connector on the dangling wire simply slip onto this little disc, or do I need to get a connector at an auto parts store that affixes to the disc to thus accommodate the blade connector? If so, what’s it called? If anyone can help, much appreciated! Thanks!

My 65 Belvedere uses the same type of connector. I got mine here, but they can probably be gotten elsewhere.

your wiring sounds like it just fell off. it does as you described, it just slips on the sending unit. any good auto parts store will have new terminals if you need to replace it. I think a female spade terminal is the correct term.

If the blade connector terminal is too loose on the stud, just give it a very slight squeeze with pliers to tighten it up, then slip it back on the stud. When I change oil filters I disconnect this and secure it way upward out of the work area, then be sure to reconnect it after the filter is on. Just don't short it to a metal ground surface any where.
