Also, I have a good handle on fuel and vac lines, and throttle linkage. I'm less clear on the transmission linkage to the carb. I believe it cams downwards, but not sure of the linkage connection and how far it is supposed to travel at partial throttle and full throttle for passing gear. Can someone please post a pic or two of the trans linkage attached to the carb? Thanks again, Rattlecan |

I believe that if you get the kick down linkage too far out of adjustment performance and your tranny will suffer. Post in the parts wanted, you should be able to get a 1 bbl and a kick down linkage,,,, there are sites that have Factory Service Manuals on line, I don't frequent them as I got a FSM for my '83 D150 off ebay some time ago. I'll search around and post back. That is a fine looking D 150, looks real solid, another thought for a carb,, look around on e bay, or there is a carb shop that I delt with some time ago, Daytona Carbs I think is the name, They had a lot of kits for older carbs, they may have a line on a complete kit,, |

Rattlecan, that is a good looking truck. Not to hijack this thread, but what about the Autolite 2100? Adapters are available. Is it difficult to adapt the linkage onr a D150 with the 904 automatic ? Many seem to like the 2100. Actually, some even think the Chinese copies of the 2100 are better than the same for the BBD. I'm converting my '84 D150 to a two barrel. If its worth the effort I'll change to the 2100. Tonight I picked up a cheap BBD from a Facebook Marketplace listing, but wonder about the 2100. Dadtruck, do you know anything about the Daytona "universal" carbs from that link? Tim |

+1 for the 2100. Easy to rebuild. |

Quote: know anything about the Daytona "universal" carbs I have no experience with the universal carbs from Daytona Parts. But I have bought carb rebuild kits from Daytona and the kits were of good quality. I could imagine that rebuilable carburetor cores are getting harder to get. So it is a logical progression that new - old style carbs would become available. Daytona Parts must think they are good as they put thier company name on them. |

It's been a busy couple of weeks for the old D150! I ordered a carb, distributor, and the HEI parts from Rockauto. It all went together well, with only a few issues. 1. The AC DELCO ignition control module failed after two days. I ordered another and it's still working. 2. Setting the timing was a real chore. This motor is very, very touchy. A couple degrees either way from the "Sweet Spot" and it won't run at all. 3. I had to fabricate a linkage arm from the carb throttle to the transmission kickdown. I used 8/32 threaded rod, four nylon lock nuts, and made up some bracket ends. The linkage is adjustable, more on that in a minute. It's a little rough at cold idle, but once warmed it runs great! About that linkage: is there a guide to proper adjustment? When should it "engage", as is when and how much when the throttle is moved? Thanks again, you are all a great resource of info to keep these on the road!
