Hey guys, mostly new to /6 and had a couple questions regarding a motor I found on Craigslist today. It is super clean looking 225 and came out of a 70 1-1/2 truck and has been out of it for 7 years. Owner says it was properly garage stored since. Would there be any issues putting this in my ‘65 Dart station wagon?(fitment) I haven’t seen it yet and do not have a lot of info on it besides what’s above. What should I keep an eye for when I do see it? |

The flywheel centering ring and torque converter recess will be different, but there are no other fitment differences if your Dart has a 225 already. |

Ok just the flywheel center ring. Been looking into since I asked the question and that is the main issue I read I might have. I heard mention of an adapter, think they where by a member here but I can’t remember who. (Too much reading, now everything has mixed together.) Anyone know about an adapter for sale? In my research the only other fitment issue I saw might be the pan. Also read something about oil sump placement, not sure if that matters. |

Just to confirm: Do you have a stick or automatic trans? Lou |

The oil pan and pickup tube will need to be swapped from your old engine to the new one, and you'll need the adapter ring, but other than that, it's a bolt in affair. ~THOR~ |

'Properly stored' is a vague statement, so hopefully he will let you at least check it over closely. A pressure washer can make it look clean outside, but you need to look for clues inside as much as possible. -Pull the valve cover and look for sludge and also sticking valves as you turn it over (very loose rocker might indicate) -Borrow a bore scope and have a look inside the cylinders -turn the crank back and forth while you watch the distributor (testing for sloppy timing chain) -push/pull on the crank longitudinally (careful prybar usage might help) looking for excessive endplay (worn thrust bearing) |

Ok guys, thanks again for your help! I ended up buying motor and meeting a fellow Mopar enthusiast near my home. He wasn’t asking much, it was super clean and if I have any issues he told me to bring it back and he would buy it back. Had a little adventure loading it but otherwise went smooth. I tried searching for Charlie_S for the adapter but could not find him in the registry. |

You probably didn't find Charlie_S, because it's spelled Charrlie_S, with 2 r's, but He's bound to chime in on His own at some point! You can also find Him on FABO, good luck & lets hope no more "adventures" on Your swap! P.S. You can just click on His name at the top of this forum & it will take You to His profile. You can PM from there. |
