Sticking with my distributor issue, is the reluctor pressed on? Could the duel pick-ups be removed and converted to a single without its removal?
Thanks for your thoughts it's greatly appreciated.

Yes. Two flathead screwdrivers with their tips placed 180 degrees apart under the lip of the reluctor is the usual methos used to pry the reluctor off the shaft.

Yes. Unscrew the scond pickup from the plate. Or just leave it under the cap and run with it unplugged.

To convert to HEI I would just disconnect one pick, upgrade the coil and wire the remaining pickup to 4 prong ignition module? Is the vacuum advance needed?

The first time that reluctor is removed in 45 years it can be stuck on to shaft. Like Reed said two large slotted screw drivers 180* apart prying up from bottom of reluctor will get it to slide off, but one may have to exert a lot of force to get it to let go at which point it will slide off without difficulty, and continue to be easy to remove if need be.

Don't loose the little roll pin that clocks reluctor.

does yours HAVE vac advance? most Lean burn ones don't. I have only ever seen 1 dual pickup Mopar distributor, that was also vac advance, 4 pin standard Mopar elec ignition... (NOT Lean burn) that was on an 81 W150 with a 318 and factory TQ carb...… My current 85 D150 with a slant, and Lean burn, has 2 pickups and no vac advance. If going to HEI or even Mopar standard elec ignition, then yes.... you would want functional mechanical and vacuum advance.
only exceptions would be an EFI transplant (where a computer would take over timing advance) or an industrial, steady load, constant RPM setup like maybe a generator or something like that
