Hey guys, wondering if you can explain how some of the numbers that are cast into the block and stamped into the block are deciphered. I'm under the impression that it's the original block from '68 A100 cargo van, but I'm not sure. The big numbers cast into the drivers side of the block are "2806830-2" and "04028". My research says that the "2806830" number means that it's a '68-'70 block...does the "-2" at the end of that number mean anything...like 2nd shift at the plant or something? I'm assuming that the "04028" means April 2nd, 1968...but I have no idea, haha, which is why I'm here. Last, but not least...I'm having a hard time deciphering what the stamped ID number in the machined surface below cylinder #1 means. That stamped number in the machined surface is "PT225T 24480833". Is there a source somewhere that you can point me in the direction of to help decipher that stamped number? THANKS AGAIN!

I found Chrysler's 10,000 day calendar and figured out what the PT225T means...the PT means it was built in Trenton, the 225 means that it's a 225 (obviously), and the T means that it was built for a truck (all of the A100's trucks and vans are coded as trucks). Typing the 2248 into the 10,000 day calendar I found that the motor was built on April 10th, 1968. Apparently the 0833 at the end is the sequence number...does that tell me anything?

The "-2" means the second revision of the molds. Otherwise everything else is as you have already found out.
