If I remember, I will measure the big header Mike had built before I put it on Sunday. Pretty sure it's 1-3/4" and possibly a step.

We could ask Gary his thoughts.

As far as the step header design, what do you plan for to make that happen?
Like what sizes tubes, where to place the step, collector sizing?

That's definitely a deep rabbit hole because there is no one size fits all combo that will be "right" for more than a few people. Since you already have 1-3/4" now, I'd suggest the first section could be 1-3/4" about 4 to 6 inches long. Then step it down to 1-5/8" for the next 14 to 18 inches, and if you want a 3rd step, go 1-1/2" for the remaining length. The collector size and length is another rabbit hole as well. But you can tack the headers at the steps so they can be taken back apart and modded without to much trouble....

I didn't have my calipers at the shop, but as close as I could get with a tape measure on the "Bed of Snakes" header was tubing od is 1-15/16. They are not step headers, but they do have a merge collector on them.
