Long story, but had some car problems a few months ago (wiring issues the mechanic got wrong), but then they ended up fixed. My mechanic had the car running better than it had in 30 years, easy.

Ran the car about 150 miles, and boom. Oil pump went out. Didn't notice the light, but did notice the giant booming sound coming from the lower reaches of the engine.

So I'm in "engine rebuild"-hell at this point. The machine shop assumed they could weld the broken crankshaft. Apparently, that's out. It's trash.

So, long story short, who should I be calling on for a crankshaft? Where can I get one? Should I be looking at a short block or something instead?

Thanks in advance to all you fine folks!

It might be difficult to get just the crank..

Look on your local Facebook, Craigslist etc - Just get a core engine - If you have the small crank register It might be a bit more difficult to find the 60-67 Forged crankshaft with the small Crank register.

Additionally post a wanted ad in the "parts wanted" section of this forum as well as on for a bodies only, as they get a lot more traffic on that site.

Sometimes people are giving away slant 6's just to get storage space back.

What is your location?

location ? and what crankshaft? 170, 198, 225. early forged, or late forged, or cast? I have some cranks, and I bet others do, also.

If you're anywhere close to central Illinois I have a small register 225 crank you can have.

Tons of people on this site have extras, but it really depends on your location and willingness to pick up.

Hey everybody. Thanks for the replies! I'm in San Diego, actually. Southern California.

I would pay someone to ship one, if necessary. :)
