I spoke with Jeff Long and he has said he is willing to sponsor us again at Gateway, but we have to gaurantee that we will have a decent turnout of cars. I personally am not thrilled with our treatment at Gateway, but would go for Jeff. I know many of the other racers who were there last year were pretty upset at our treatment too. Would you return IF Jeff gets on Mr. Sieveking to get us on schedule this year?

Trouble is that there are not a lot of other big Mopar races out in the Heartland. We need to keep something going in that area.

I hear ya there Doug. RT66 is gone, Topeka died, KC is dead, and Mo-Kan already had the plug pulled. I was looking forward to that one too.

Monster Mopar would really be a great race if they would just stop "forgetting" about us. The sad part is that we put on a really good show, yet they focus on the other "feature" cars. Hey, how many times do people really want to see the altered wheelbase car that always shuts off at about 100', the 2 out-dated Pro Stockers that will barely qualify for the Quick 16, and the POS KOS cars that crash and blow up?????

Our entire race including both qualifying runs didn't take up 45 minutes, and we did not spill so much as one drop of oil. Plus, Mike treated the crowd to the fastest Slant door car run in history. Besides that, many of our cars are like works of art, especially that '66 Dart from Ohio. :D

Personally I would not make that tow every year. If it was a big race (15+ cars) then it would be the sort of situation where we might make it one year just to support it.
I would rather see Atlanta brought back. That was always a good show with a good /6 turnout. Since these two races occur on the same weekend it does not make sense to compete with each other and as DD said the midwest guys need some close races. If for some reason Gateway falls through I might consider putting a little $$ into a pursue for Atlanta next year.

Dennis,

I would like to go to that race, but it is too early for me to tell at this point. I would like to support Slant racing in the Midwest if I can.

Cheers,

Lou

I think the big problem for the Slants at St Louis is that we do not have a good "point person" assigned to work with the track on our piece of the event.

At bigger events, you need to be "in their face" about any special bracket or else they just plain forget about you.

My issue with this event is that it always seems to be "choking hot" every time we race there.

Bagel i was not pleased about last year at St Louis but i would give it another try this year. I would rather race there than the way we were treated at Atlanta Dragway 2years ago. If Jeff puts a program together i will committ to come to St. Louis and burn your bagels. Thanks Ron Possum Parker. :D

Monster Mopar is always the second weekend in September. Doug is correct, it's always hotter than my mother-in-law's tongue too.

Possum, I ain't skeered of you.

Gateway is supposed to have a new manager this year. Maybe things will change. :)

It's listed as 9/6 and 7 on the Slant racing calendar.

Monster weekend, is just to far for me. No way I could make it. Also I'm with Ron Parker about Atlanta, really not interested in going there again, unless there are some changes made.

What were some of the problems with atlanta? Always seem to have a good turnout.

Tom the year before last the people that run Atlanta Dragway indexed sprortsman cars to run 14.50 are quicker to be in the show. This kept some of our slant cars out of the sportsman bracket race. They tole me and Charlie s. that they were running it like the bracket national finals and that was the index. What about a Mopar race instead of the bracket nationals, they told us that is the way it is like it or leave. So i have a bad taste in my mouth for Atlanta Dragway. But i am still open mined and would not rule out Atlanta. We will have to see if there are two points races the same weekend where i would go. This would be a tough disecision for some one that was at the top of the points. What cars would be where. Ps Bagel i dont want you skeered i want you to show up. Thanks Ron Parker
