That's how it all happens - little by little (and occasionally with larger bursts).

If work co-operates and the planets align, next Saturday I get my bike in to the dealer for it's yearly service, tire, and once over for my trip. Once I get out of the dealership I will head back to the shop to see if I can get shyt done.

Sunday Cookie has graciously volunteered to come up and help get the motor/trans set in and bolted down. With that part done I can then bring it home and have more time to attack it.

Got the trans in and all hooked up. Driveshaft and shifter functional, and made cooler lines.

Thanks to Bill Hoft and Wayne Venables for assisting today. :D

My trans fluid of choice today. Why? you may ask when the light bulb salesman recommends something else?

Well, here's why.

1. The main purpose of trans fluid in an automatic transmission is to make the series of wet clutches and bands engage and disengage at the proper times by hydraulic action. So what? Well, you really don't want super slickery high zoot stuff in your wet clutches because it will make them slip. Slipping is not good for clutches.

2. Cooling is the second most importantest function of the fluid. All it needs to do is carry heat away from you non slipping clutches and bands and all will be well.

3. Lubrication is 3rd on the list because it is not a high priority in an automatic transmission. If the trans is built correctly there will not be much wearing going on anyway. If it's not built correctly no fluid in the world will save it no matter how much it costs.

I did actually do something worthwhile today. Motor is in and turned over on the starter. Made 50 psi oil pressure and no puddles underneath when I left. :P

Hooked up the battery, flipped on the main, and no smoke escaped, but there are literally dozens of wires in this thing that need to go away.

Fantastic! It will be great to see you and that car going down the track again. I will have to adjust my glasses to verify the scene, I'm sure...

One of my local track buddies asked me last week if I knew about the Buzzin Half Duzzin. I said, sure I know Mike J well and the car is about to be resurrected. I asked him if he had seen it online or something. He said, naw, he had seen it run at Bristol a while back and loved it. He is an A-body guy through and through. Maybe I can convert him to Slants someday?

This car is very well known. My biggest issue is it won't be fast, and everyone will ask "why?".

Ordering a new set of Smith Bros. pushrods today. This block and head have been milled and stockers are a tad too long. It's only money, right?
