My best 60' with the M/T ET Streets from a few years ago was 1.81. I must have measured them at one point because I posted that they were 25.5" tall.

My best 60' this weekend at Mo-Kan with the new M/T 28X9 slicks was 1.8559. I'm probably still running too much air pressure in them (15 psi).

I will get it out to Ohio Valley with someone to watch for tire spin soon.

I would think that a taller, stickier tire would potentially drop the 60' time (if'n ya ain't got too much air in them tars & makin' 'em spin... )

What psi are y'all runnin' yer slicks on? Team green had their steam rollers at 8 psi...

9 Psi For ruster.

If it's slipping I might go down to 8.5 Psi

14 sec car should not be spinning those at all. My guess is it's the engine tuning or air quality that is making your 60 ft a bit longer, not the tires. Taller/bigger tires are also more rotating mass and less torque to the ground, although those are probably not drastically different than your old tires.

If you're consistently running 60' times with very close MPH to each other and then your 60' is slower but your MPH picks up.....your spinning. If your MPH also slows down with the 60'....It ain't spinning. You're 60' is also affected by deep staging or shallow staging. Shallow staging can give you a slower 60' because you are leaving the line farther away from the 60' timer, and you can actually be 61' feet away from it when you launch. It can give you a faster MPH compared to deep staging because of the inverse scenario. Consistent staging is as important as leaving at a consistent RPM to gather useful data to solve quandaries like this. When I bracket raced, I could run 2 MPH faster in the 1/8 mile by shallow staging compared to rolling in as far as I could without turning the top bulb off. That extra rollout in the staging lights can make that much difference, and if you don't realize that, you can chase your tail trying to figure it out.

Tire being taller took some gear out of it.

MPH actually went up just a tad and the 60’ is only off by .04.
The tires are taller, but quite a bit lighter with the slicks and centerlines compared to DOT slicks and steel wheels.
I’m taking it out to Ohio Valley 1/8 mile track tomorrow night and will play with things.

Honestly? The weight of the wheels and tires won't really change a whole lot on a drag car, especially slow turds like we have.

Don't get too wound up in numbers from different tracks either. The rollout could be a tad different, plus weather conditions. Important thing is that they stay fairly constant at the track you're racing at.

Did you try aluminum wheels on the '66? Or was there no change in et from steel wheels?

I've been curious about this....

I had 2 different sets of Weld wheels on it. I also had Welds on my Duster, and on a 455 Skylark. Saw no real gain on any of them other than they looked nicer.
