Saturday Adam and I played cars for a little while.

He welded a patch panel on the left front frame rail and did some more wiring.

I stayed out of trouble and worked on adding lightness.

I had planned to work on the Challenger and brought the shop heater home. I figured Adam could use a little heat, so I changed plans and went there instead.

So, I ain't fergot 'bout the Challenger... I just got side-tracked a bit...

Other progress on the Lemons front...

We (Jason, Brian, Adam and I) are all registered and paid up for the 24 Hours of Lemons race at Barber Motorsports 1-3 February! We will be there with Jason's '64 Valiant we raced there last year on 4.75 cylinders...

Lou is driving with Frank and the Escape Velocity team in another early Slant 6 A body (64 Dart).

Fun!!

Looking forward to it! The Dart and Valiant have only raced together once, back in the fall of 2016. I think that might've been the Valiant's first race, and we spent most of Saturday doing a head gasket on the Dart. Hopefully both our cars are better sorted now...

I think the car overall is fairly well sorted, but Jason had to put a stock engine in for this one.

Oh, that makes me feel a lot better. We're also running the same stock engine from our last race. Didn't have the time or money to finish the cheaty big-valve head before Barber.

Maybe somewhat evenly matched then. It should be fun!

Testing yesterday went well. Both cars out on track. With bone stock engines they should be pretty evenly matched. Very similar suspension and brake set ups. Hopefully we can get close enough to each other in the crowd for some fun A body Slant 6 road racing together!!

All day long and ready for tomorrow.

We ended the day in 45th place in the Valiant.

The Dart finished in 32nd.

I believe there were roughly 80 cars on track today.

The Valiant is a tad faster than the Dart. I was able to pass it twice, but they are close.

We have been driving the Valiant with a new clutch that won’t disengage, so rather than stop racing we are fighting it to get up to fourth gear and just leaving it there rather than downshifting for the corners that need it.

Other than that it is running fine for a stock engine.

Lemons Fun!! :D :D

Dart is currently 26th with Lou at the wheel.

Valiant is 47th with Jason driving.

84 cars on track today.

We changed tires last night and now the Valiant is a little tail happy (oversteers). Still grinding gears and staying in fourth...

We finished up with the Dart getting second in C class and 26th of 84.

The Valiant wound up 47th. We had some tire, brake and clutch issues to endure.

We won the highly coveted “Index of Effluency” award!!

Lemons racing is a total blast!! :D :D

The grand prize (and considered by some to be the "true" winner) is the Index of Effluency award, presented to a car considered unlikely to finish the race at all, let alone finish with a respectable number of laps completed. The team that wins the Index of Effluency is given a larger trophy and a cash prize.
