1000rpm launch?

That is not much above idle. Try launching at 1500-2000 and I bet you will go! :D

I didn't try that I figured more would not help. Also had some brake issues and wasn't able to hold the car steady. Looks like a wheel cylinder is starting to weep from the bleeder now. We have some rain moving in so hopefully I will fix the wheel cylinders tonight and hit the test road tomorrow.

Rick,
I see you are pretty close to South Mountain Raceway in Boiling Springs? I will be up there April 14 running in my vintage eliminator class. There is another guy in the group that has a slant powered hot rod too. They have a test and tune going on too, you should bring your car so I can see what a slant will really do haha!

Probably can't make that one. I am going to Mason Dixon next Saturday if everything goes right. You guys should plan to race with us in May and see a bunch of slant 6 racers!

I think have a dirt race that weekend. I also haven't made my roll bar yet so I'm sure they won't let me run at Mason Dixon outside of this vintage eliminator class.

My buddy with the slant is down in Knoxville TN but I will try to get him to come up for the 2025 Mason Dixon slanr event.

Cool progress and results! Launching at the highest RPM your brakes can hold will help a lot. More initial timing will help bogging.

There are quite a few Slant 6 nuts around Knoxville. We are planning a race down there for September 20-21, FYI.

Thanks for sharing,
Lou

I set timing at 11/12° btdc and the car started pushing the front tires at around 1500rpms. Launched and that and it went pretty well. I'm sure the tires will stick a little better on the track too.

I will see if I can upload a video to YouTube so I can share the link here.

Sounds better! If you had a 2500-3000 RPM stall converter you would see a huge difference. 12 deg BTC and stall it up and if it still bogs you'll need to work on the carb...

I like the sound of that!

With the fuel we have today, it's a little different reading plugs. The ground strap is what you look for. It appears to be right, about 1/2 way crusty from heat.

Neat project!

Thanks it's been a lot of work, a few headaches but finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel haha. Luckily I am able to get non ethanol gas at a few places near me so I just run that in this car.

Very cool video! Looks like fun. It would be GREAT to see you at the Mason-Dixon race and Mopar show on May 19 if you can swing by.

I didn't realize the Mason Dixon event was on a Sunday. I have a dirt track event in Auburn PA on Saturday so I might be able to come by but I live in southern MD so it's still 2 hours away. If I have my rollbar done by then then I will just find a place to camp out near Mason Dixon and come straight from the dirt event haha.

You can camp out at the track if you like.
