I have not seen a flywheel like that outside of an industrial application.

All the trucks I have pulled apart up to 1983 all have flat flywheels... there is a difference in the flywheel offset at the crank between the old fully closed face early 60's NP bellhousing and the later open face version more commonly seen in the 70's-early 80's.

The numbers provided no longer seem to cross with anything modern... we are going to need a retired guy with some old books to cross to something we can use now.

The clutch and PP is 11" across. The tooth count on the flywheel is 130. We did find a number and name "Perfection" on the disc, but was unable to find one on the PP. Andrew is trying to find the application off that number.

The actual culprit was a nut that came off of one of the mounting studs that holds the PP together. The spring itself may be Ok.

I still want a new one for in it

Rick

Your best option may be to send your clutch out to a re-builder.

You may be right. Anyone know any good ones here on the East Coast?

Andrew did go to the Chrysler dealer and he did indeed list a "recessed" pressure plate assembly. It is discontinued. But the dealer put him on to the company that built the pressure plates for Chrysler. The company was in Baltimore, and the gentleman there said they did build them but they are no longer available. So I guess they did build this "oddball" clutch.

Here are the Chrysler numbers just in case someone has one laying around!

Disc - 4295458
Pressure Plate - 4329165

In looking for a new or reconditioned flywheel I am not seeing any listed for an 11" clutch with 130 tooth count. All of them seem to be 143. At this point I am just considering getting a 10 1/2" flywheel which opens up endless possibilities for the clutch and PP. But am I thinking right that as long as it is 130 tooth it should fit and the starter should line up.

Oops! Never mind. I just remembered I have a V8 10 1/2" flywheel stashed away for the race car when I go to a 4-Speed. I can test fit that one before buying a new one for Andrew's truck.

Thanks

I was wondering that myself. Being an oddball flywheel, is it an oddball bell housing as well? Test fit will be mandatory.

I just measured across the flywheel (While still bolted in the bellhousing) and it is the same diameter as my 10 1/2" 130 tooth flywheel. I will check the offset later today when I get it out.

Ok I think Andrew would prefer to get a flat flywheel and then be done with this for the future. Does anyone have a 10 1/2 " flywheel,130 tooth, with the Slant 6 bolt pattern for the crank, for sale.

Let us know.

Thanks,
Rick

That's a pattern that wasn't available in the 70's to early 80's... in fact I bought a new 130 tooth Dakota Flywheel for the 3.9/5.2L (LA bolt pattern),
to fit up and see if it would work as an alternate to the 11" 143 tooth flywheel...(oddly in my location used Dakota flywheels get snatched out of junkyards a lot faster than mini-starters...so none to be had here... junkyard rate even for the aluminum late versions are $50 a piece, you pull.)

I seem to remember talking to racers who have used the 318 flywheel with the LA bell and adaptor, but you have to egg one of the holes.

DI, In all my searches for the 130T Dakota or Ram, it only shows a 143T ?? Advance and Auto zone the same. Rock Auto too. If you have a Part# from AutoZone that would be great! Thanks!

I see them on Ebay fo $140 but if I can get him one local for $100 that would be better!

11" clutch & PP are readily available. 11" clutch for the 130 T flywheel with 11" recessed clutch are not available anywhere, even from Chrysler.

Anyone with forklift connections? Are these still available anywhere that you know of.

What is an interesting thought is that this "odd" 130T with 11" Clutch and PP would possibly fit inside a blowproof bell for the 10 1/2" setup. Just thinking out loud. No I don't want to try it!!! Thanks!
