Well, this is really annoying. Yesterday the seller told me he could meet on Sunday, and when I asked for details today he said he had just sold it. Back to the drawing board...

I had that happen too....and in my case, it'd been listed unsold for over a year before I took interest in it! Had nearly all the parts with it...

Solace in solidarity I suppose... Still a bit dumb for him to cut out one of at least two potential buyers. I would have gone Saturday if he had said so!

Yeah, I guess your case was worse, since you were already committing to it when it happened (Mine, I was still undecided)

Updates:

1) I found another donor truck. It's in west Texas. It's twice as expensive though ($2500) and in much better shape overall. I would feel a bit bad gutting it for the transmission unless I had another one to put in, before reselling the truck. Any options there?

2) It turns out I was wrong about the 3-spd currently in my truck, again. According to Wikipedia the A-903 was the only 3-spd manual option for lo-po V8s and six cylinders, and the A745 was the 3-spd manual option for heavy duty V8s. But according to my door tag, the transmission is an A745.

I might skip the whole donor truck idea and go to the scrapyard in search of a '79-'84 D150. I'm in Houston right now and Car-Part.com has a few hits. In this case I assume I should pull everything from driveshaft to clutch linkage? Mounts, Z bar, etc. Seems like it would be easier than to leave anything behind, or is that wrong.

Yes, better to take it all than forget something and pay more $$$ to go back and get it, then find the donor has been crushed and is gone...
