I've got a 1963 Dart wagon with push button trans. The parking lever works up and down (ie. when down it kicks it into neutral) but the cable that attaches to the back of the lever has broken...so there is no park and the car rolls. Is there any chance of fixing the cable so it reattaches or does anyone know where to get a new cable from? Thanks! |

I agree, used is a good bet. Also post over at FABO, good number of parts over there also. |

First: I haven't looked at the part or how it attaches...……. Do you think you can get inventive and have a bicycle shop fabricate one? |

The cable is in a sealed housing and is at least partially filled with transmission fluid. Any cable that was fabbed up would have to be similarly sealed and oil resistant. Be careful with the shift and park cables around the front pipe. There is a metal tab attached to the driver side floor pan that holds these cables in place that is now ancient and maybe rusting. If these cables touch the hot pipe, they will melt through and you will have a leak. |
