I'm building a 65 Barracuda 225, A904 trans. with trans-brake, 8 3/4 3:91 rear end for the street and strip. Tricking out the 225 (hoping for 275 HP). I'm looking for suggestions on what type of torque converter to use.

Are you using the 60-67 crank, or the 68 up crank? 68 up trans?

Norm, I don't know for sure, but I don't think anyone makes a transbrake for the cable shifted trans. As for a converter your best bet is to call a converter builder and give them your build info. Do not buy a "off the shelf" converter. Edge, PTC, and Midwest have made slant six converters. Myself, I use Edge. My advise would be to use the later crank (68-75) and use a 68 or newer trans. It will be easier and cheaper, if you have not built the engine or trans, yet.

Did a little research. A&A Transmission can build a transbrake valve body for a cable shifted 904.
Their price is $650 plus a $200 refundable core charge. They recommend a billet rear servo, also, at $80

Thats great info. Reasonable price also. I haven't tore down the engine yet (feel bad about that, as it is a fine running engine, only 48,000 on it.) however, to get the HP I want, head and deck work are on the agenda, cam, rods etc. I'll see if my "parts source" has your recommended crank.
Thanks for the guidance.
