I have a set of 4 mounted never put on the road of 63's , 15" 5x4", two different widths that I don't remember.
Maybe I should list them?

Just wanted to pass along that Wheel Vintiques has discontinued their 63 series plain steel wheels in the 5 x 4 bolt pattern. I tried to order a set from jegs and they said they were told no more. They didn't have the 15x7 in stock anymore so I was out of luck. Summit doesn't have that size in stock either. |

Its the end of an era.. Time to get some 5 lug k car or minivan wheels. I am sure there are other suppliers making the 5x100mm lug pattern. The offsets may be different however. Greg |

Anybody know if the 15 x 8's will clear the front ok? They will clear the rear end ok,. I've already measured it. I've also read reviews on those wheels that they don't clear some of the brake drums. Anybody else ran into this? |

I still see old 14 inch slotted mag wheels with the 5x4 bolt pattern on Craigslist. Although I can't understand why you would want to keep those original brakes and still try to drive the car every day. |

I don't drive it every day. It only gets about 1000 miles per year. To be honest these work very well. The only time I have an issue is if I make multiple hard stops. Here in the flatlands of Illinois the small brakes work well enough to get me from a to b with no fear. If I lived in a hilly area or it was scary fast or heavier I would upgrade the brakes. |

I agree, the stock brakes are fine. Millions of miles were driven with them. That said, I'm not so sure I'd trust them in what has become a very fast pace of traffic. Is the BP really 5 x 100MM? I'm wondering because 100MM doesn't equal 4". |

It's not 5 x 100mm. 5 x 4" converts to 5 x 101.6mm. Alot of modern cars use 5 x 100mm. You can hog the bolt holes out a little and make them fit but they won't fit right. You'll more than likely damage your lugs and hubs or end up hurting yourself or someone else if you lose a wheel. |

I have the set of American Racing wheels and tires I got for Toadracer when I thought we would stick with the small bolt pattern. We have now upgraded to large bolt pattern. The previous owner smoothed the back of the wheels to better fit drum brakes. I gave $225 for them about a year ago. I don't think the tires have ever rolled outside of the garage. I can send you pics if you're interested.

I checked with summit racing and they still have some 15 x 8 small bolt steel rims in stock. I'm leaning toward those because I want to paint them to match the car and keep the dog dish hubcaps. |

I ended up ordering two 15 x 8 wheels for the rear from Summit. They still have some left in stock. I got them in today. They look good but man are they heavy. 18 lbs. each. Good thing I didn't order them for the front. They would have been like two large flywheels. I think I'll stick with my 14" steel wheels. They don't weigh much. The front rim and tire weighs less than just the new 15 x 8 rim......Maybe I'll put my original 13" rims on the front when i race. They don't weigh much at all. I'll get the scale out and weigh all of these next week. Someone send me a reminder in case I forget.....I'm pretty good about that nowadays. |

OK here's what I found when I weighed the wheels with my Berkeley 50 lb. digital fish scale. I think it's pretty accurate. 1. New 15 x 8" wheel vintiques series 63 OE look steel rim only, no tire: 28 lb. 3 oz. 2. Keystone 14" x 6" mag with 26 x 8.5 x 14 drag slick(no tube): 32 lb. 3 oz. 3. Original 13" x 4" stamped steel wheel with 185/75/13 radial tubeless tire. 27 lb. 3 oz. I guess I need to get my arm scale re-calibrated. I was guessing the new 15 x 8 rim was 18 lbs. I also looked that up on Jegs or Summit's website and it showed 18 lbs. shipping weight.... By the time I get a new street tire on the new rim I'm going to be pushing 35 lbs. Now if I can just make up my mind on which size tire to buy. A 235/60/15 should clear with no problems. If I can get a 275/60/15 to fit, then I'll be doing something good. Time to get the tape measure out..... |

Looks like the only interference I will have with the 275/60/15 is at the front of the inner wheel well. There's a area bumped out about 4" long going straight up. I looked inside and it lines up with the bottom corner of the upper bench seat. I don't see any reason why I can't flatten it out. Might also have to hammer in the outer wheel lip and the outer wheel well right above the tire. Shouldn't need much though. |
