I have an Isky cam PN 152116. Valve lift .448. Dur 264. The paperwork says "VALVE LASH HOT .018." It doesn't specify separate numbers for hot and cold like the shop book. Should I just set it up that way and see what happens? does anyone else have any experience with this cam? It seems to run great. I just don't want to wreck my valves. Thanks Mike MAndreas@aol.com |

I wrote "Hot and cold" I meant "Intake and exhaust" sorry . The book says .010 for the intake and.020 for the exhaust. The cam info paper says .018. The cam info paper says .018 It is not uncommon for an older cam grind to call-out one lash number. This tells me that there is a single lobe profile ground on both the intake and exhaust. My Guess is that the intakes will be a bit loose and noisy at .018 and the exhaust a bit tight. Valve lash numbers are NOT set in stone, try some different settings to find what works best for your combo. My guess is that the engine may run a bit smoother at idle with the exhaust set at .020 to .022 and if the intakes are "ticking", tighten them a bit to get rid of the noise. (always listen and "feel" for missing / rough idle and don't go tighter if this starts to happen) DD |
