Thanks I beleive this is a good starting point I can see where some of these issues could and would be a problem. I'm a industrial electrician and I see noise interference between low voltage and high voltage situation all the time.

I'm working now but will put sometime on the car later today and ill report back then I can already see where I might be getting my rpm spike from it may or may not be from #1 plug wire.
Also I just put some cold plugs in a couple weeks ago with a pretty tight gap. 025. But the car ran good but the weather was also 20 degrees warm then. I might put the hotter plugs back in it and see if it helps me get the car running again.
This has been driving me crazy for the last two weeks and its cutting into my tuning time. If the weather wasn't so $#!+ here in Michigan I may have ditched the megasquirt and just taking my chances.

I'm not sure if you realize or not but the toad is carburetored still but I'm adding the megasquirt for data logging and ignition only at this time but have plans to go EFI in the future. But what better way to cut my teeth or LOSE ALL MY HAIR depending on how you want to look at it

But thank you so much also I didn't mean to take over your thread
Aaron

Are you running msextra a I'd like to see a data log and maybe a tune if you wouldn't mind

Mine is set 10 BTDC static. This is synced with the EFI electronically. The car idles at that 10BTDC but is set to jump up to around 20 when the throttle is opened. This is a tuning field on MSII.

I run two sets of Sheilded pair wiring yesterday from the hei module to the dizzy and to the coil. I also added a grounding strip that one end of both Sheilded pairs is hooked to and the HEI module ground, then it's ran straight back to the megasquirt. I couldn't check things out I had a relay coil go bad on me so I called it quits.
I could see how I had it where I could of been getting interference with #1, #2 plug wires. I'm hoping I can do some test later today and ill report back

Thanks again
Aaron

Well it looks like one of my problems reared its ugly head and showed itself. My starter took a $#!+ on me, it will be interesting to see if that's what was causing some if not most or all of my inconsistent in voltage readings when the motor was in a cranking state.
Two steps forward one step back is the story of this build....
Stay tuned one of these days this little six banger will be ready for some fun

Well I made some headway the other day after I rewired the ignition with Sheilded pair and separated my grounds. I decided to pull the spark plugs just to take a look I just installed these boosch cold plug and on atleast two of the plugs the gaps had tighten up and on 5cyl the electrode was broke! I don't no what happened but i replaced all the plugs with some nkg I had lying around. These dang plugs were the coldest plugs I could find and only had one start up and one pass down the road with 12 pounds of boost through at them.

I was able to get the car to run for about 5 second intervals which is when the megasquirt takes over and sends a 5V signal to the hei module. I'm going to pull the 5V wire later today and get the timing base line all dailed in. Then maybe I can move forward.
I'll report back Aaron
