What do you guys and gals think about the new 2 barrel offered by holley. I could see it being great to use on slant sixes without having to shell out boohoo bucks. also you would have to buy an expensive 4 bbl intake like before with the whole kit at around a grand i think it is a good deal. what do you guys think? https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_sy ... ts/550-849

That might work well with a 2bbl intake, although you will need an adapter plate if using a factory 2bbl intake, and the bores are quite a bit smaller than that TBI unit. Best to get an Offy 4bbl and buy a $20 adapter plate to mount that TBI. I have no experience with that system, but the size should be good for a Slant. Does it come with the fuel pump/system, or do you buy that separately?

Beaucoup is the word you're looking for. It's French so it's tough for most of us to spell.

I've adapted that flange to the Super Six intake before. In 1990. If you use a die grinder and taper the adapter it works well. The fuel pump and accessories are a separate kit. If you like the look and simplicity it's probably not a bad way to go, but I'd replace the injectors with something a bit smaller so long as the system will accommodate them. 350hp worth of fuel is double the requirement of most warmed up slants. Smaller injectors will drop in, but you never know what the software limitations may be.

Holley have a lousy batting average with the aftermarket TBI kits they've put out over the years, so I definitely would not want to be among the first to drop a thousand bucks to learn the hard way if this is yet another one of these. If this general type of system interests you, you might look at this one instead; Fitech have built up a good reputation.

Wow! Thanks Dan I've looked to see if fi tech had a 2 bbl before but I haven't seen this. Would the fi tech work with a 2 bbl /6 intake? Or would I still need to use some sort of an adapter?

Folks have had some trouble with FITech too, although maybe they are improving. No 2bbl from FITech, I think.

SSD,

Your links are hard to find...................

I needed to move the mouse over everything to find them.

My links are no harder to find than any other links on this board: red text means clickable link. No random mouse-moving required.

I think Ed was making fun of me, Dan. Fair enough!

Nice to see Fitech has a 2bbl version. That is probably what I would use on a Slant. I would probably bet on that vs. the Holley myself. The "Pro-jection" Holley stuff was garbage, I agree.

Oh! Yeah, that might be it. Sorry, jetlag's got me firing on two out of six cylinders (Munich).

The links don't show up as red (I've tried different browsers) until the mouse is over them on my computer (win 8.1)

Then they get an underline too.................

Odd. The links always show up as red for me, no matter the hardware or software I am using. Maybe it is a preferences setting on your account?

That Fitech system is very intriguing. Given the expense and difficulty of finding a good condition carburetor, that system is making more sense as a replacement for a carb. Of course, that purchase price does not include the fuel supply system, but that can be worked around. However, it still looks like a complete system will run you over $1000 when it is all said and done. Last I checked, NOS and useable carbs could still be scrounged for $150-$400 depending on your luck. From a purely financial standpoint, it seems cheaper to get a four barrel intake and run a small four barrel carb or a four barrel carb with the secondaries locked out.
