Is there any way to adjust the voltage output on an internally regulated alternator?

My voltage on the race car drops to 12 or so when ign coils(6) are on + fuel pump+ elect fan+elect water pump.

I would like the voltage to remain at 14 while these run..

Is it just time to investigate a higher amperage output alternator?

Greg

You can also go to the 16V battery like Ryan did on his race car.

Isnt that for a total loss system without an alternator?

Greg,
Are you seeing the 12v at idle or with the motor turning
RPM’s above 1200?

If it is that low above 1200 RPM, I would take the
alternator to an AZ or similar shop and get it tested,
The electrical load that you have should not be a
challenge for a 70 amp alternator.
These are my guesses
25 amps electric fan
10 amps electric water pump
10 amps electric fuel pump
15 amps coils

You can check the manufacture’s catalog
and get the exact current draw for each component
and then sum up what you need.

You've given the voltage at the volt meter. What's the voltage at the alternator output at idle? At 2500 RPM?

I would have to check on that one, and get back to you.

What is the belt drive ratio (crank pulley diam to alt pulley diam)? Might be spinning too slow at idle. What happens to voltage if you raise idle speed?
