The second diagram is a bit too small (even after clicking on it) and I can't see what's going on with it. Anyway, with a rear battery I'd feel a lot better with a ford-style solenoid next to the battery for the large cable running to the starter............ |

Could not see second diagram . A long big not fused wire could be a safety risk. Put that ford solenoid back at battery for starter wire only. Separate wire fused at battery for ignition, alternator etc. Or if one wire system from battery is needed, find a large max fuse,200 amp? for use at battery. The longer the wire the more chance for shorts. |

I had to reduce the size of the diagram to get it to upload here at .org I have copied it to Flicker and you should be able to see a full size copy at https://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@ ... datetaken/ This is not one that I originated, I copied it from a posting at FABO. This one makes more sense than most that I have found, but I don't think that it will shut off a running motor by opening the disconnect, I contacted the person that drew the diagram and he said that the car will not start with the disconnect open, but he has not tried shutting down the motor by opening the disconnect. |

It looks like once the engine is running, it will stay running even with the battery disconnected. Alternator output would need it's own separate connection to the battery (with separate disconnect) |
