That will work very well, and will not perform much differently than the Howard or Oregon cams mentioned above. Have fun with your turbo buildup!

If I remember correctly the ideal LSA for a NA 225 is 107 (give or take) and for a boosted 225 it's 114 (give or take)

For a NA 170 LSA would be 114. Does that mean a boosted 170 should have a LSA of 121?

Hi Ed,

Do you know where your 114 for boosted 225 number originates? Kenny Duttweiler designed a cam for a (planned) turbo 170 Bonneville car and it is 116 LSA. I wonder if the 225 would want more like 112 LSA boosted. I bet there is a diminishing return for larger LSA on any engine. The valve sizes vs. displacement can only have so much effect when you are running substantial boost. This should be related to why turbo cams are not nearly as critical as NA cams.

I was just using the 114 mentioned in this thread...……….

Just wonder if there is some sort of rule like start with optimum LSA for your engine and increase x degrees for every y psi boost.

Since a 170 should have a wider LSA than a 225 does it increase the same amount as a 225 would with boost.

I also think a 225 might need less boosted LSA than other engines because it's NA LSA is less than other engines.

This is pretty much my turbo cam. Did you get it and install it? I was thinking on going bigger lift, around .480 or more on the next one.

Howards has one that looks good too. Just need to ask them to open up the LSA a bit.
