I was reading about turbo cam numbers and am looking for any guesses as how a 214 In 224 Ex duration @50 .480 lift 5 degrees overlap with 115 loab seperation cam would work in a turbo 225. The head has oversized valves and is ported. A904 and 2.73 rear. 15" tires. 5000 rpm is as tight as id like to go and not veary often if posable. I have a sneaking suspition that the turbo might be a little slow to spool up.(on the test stand) However i havnt put the engine in the car yet but it will hapen this summer to try out that factory cam grind # 2128637. That has 232/228 - 8 overlap with 114 seperation.

Hank,

I'm running a cam very close to the one you have highlighted. Comp Cam. The car is heavy and has run a best of 11.02 @ 122mph.

I'm running a mopar 175k unit. S/B 2400RPM behind a big block however this engine makes so much torque, I can make it stall 3400 foot braking it.

Wow....Thats radical. I was thinking of a stall of about 1500. But it sounds like the stall may not be enough for my aplication. 214 In 224 Exh @50 .480 Lift 5D. Over lap 115 Ls.

A stock converter stalls around 16-1800 rpm behind a 225. Also, you want more intake duration than exhaust with a naturally aspirated slant 6 and especially so with a turbocharger.

Why is it so? Does long stroke and small ports have something to do with it? Same with 170 and 198?

The exhaust already flows a high percentage of the intake and doesn't need more time / duration to get the job done. With a turbocharger you end up with significant back pressure which means less overlap is tolerated and a better way of accomplishing that is shorter duration along with an increase in lobe separation angle.
