So this past week I was able to get a few more thing done.
I lengthened the kick down rod by about 3.5".
But will have to play with the setting once its on the road.
I've see many different setups for this kick down, this one just had the piece that mounts to the carb and an adjuster that your thread in or out. so I cut that off and just welded in a bolt.

I also ran a return line for the new electric fuel pump, and instead of putting a fitting in the filler tube or trying to drill a hole in the tank.
I found my old tank I had on my 72'Demon, had the return nipple at the top and was already relined in the inside. Just doesn't look as good, few dings in the bottom. but it works!

I have the fuel pump all plumbed in, just need to setup the regulator and I should be good to start it again.

Some good progress lately.

Got some pics of my fuel pump setup.
Mounted it on the passenger side, along the frame rail in front of the axle.

Mounted the fuel regulator on the motor fan bolts, looks like its meant to be there! Line closest to the firewall is from the pump, other line next to it goes to the carb and the one in the front goes to my fuel press gauge. return line comes from the bottom of the regulator.

I got the last few items wrapped up for the intake piping.
Guy I know has a TIG Welder and he offered to weld up the BOV! Huge help!! And turned out amazing considering he's never really welded Aluminum before haha.

Also big thanks to '67 Dart 270 for the carb hat! Made things much easier!!
I tapped a few holes in the hat, one for the boost referenced fuel press, and the other for intake temp sensor.

Got her started up, runs and idles great!
No boost at the moment, figuring its with the wastegate. I had cut the spring down to help lower the amount of boost (since I wanted to start at like 2-3psi and the spring was for like 8-10), but thinking I cut too much. There was still tension on the valve, but i'm not sure how much press the exhaust would see pushing on it. So i'll pull the spring and try a different one.

Also when doing the IC Piping, I noticed that the alternator belt rubbed a hole in the lower rad hose!! I'm assuming this is a common issue? I tried looking up fixes or remedies, didn't find much. So I ordered a new hose and will use some tie wraps to hold it away from the belt.

If the belt rubbed a hole in the hose the hose is probably installed upside down.

Good to know, I personally use gloves for any type of welding.

Was looking at your piping from the turbo here.
Your running a HX35? As am I, did your cold side have a raised edge for that silicone fitting? mine has a v-band fitting, and kinda made something work to hold it in place, hope it works.
Just wondering how yours is setup...

Today I finished up mounting the rest of my gauges.
Left to right:
- GlowShift 3in1 Boost, EGT, Fuel Press
- Innovate A/F
- Dual intake temp
- Tach
- Oil Press

I started her up again today.
Starts not bad, have to give her a little gas to keep running, but after a min or less, it idles perfectly!

As for my boost issue, thinking no issue really. I was expecting to see boost when I rev it. But since there is no real load, I figured it wouldn't. So I brake torqued it and had it at about 1900 rpm. My boost gauge didn't really register any boost, but my fuel press went up 2psi. So might be something with the sender or connection to the gauge. I'll have to check that.

Also, I let off the gas after I had it up to 1900, and it completely died. Restarted it, took a few cranks, like it was flooded before it fired again.
Not sure if thats going to be an issue. I'm sure I have my BOV installed correctly... Vacuum line to the intake manifold.

When it stops raining here, i'll take it out for a cruise and see what happens.

So over the past month or so I haven't had much time to play with this new setup much.
I did get a chance to take it out on the road though, built about 4psi of boost, felt pretty good.

But i'm having some issues on the idle and accel side.
Idle af seems to be all over the place. I have it set good, then next time its too lean. I took metering block off to have a look, and it seems like where I put JB weld to block off the vacuum ports in the PV cavity, it didn't hold!
So i put some set screws in the butterfly plate that goes to those ports, should be no issues there anymore.

My idle screws are backed all the way out, just to maintain 15af and im at 6psi fuel. I increased the float so the level is halfway on the sight glass, that gave put me at 14af. not sure what i'm not adjusting properly...

And with the accel pump, if i slowly press on the gas it will die, but if I give it a few good quick presses it responds great! As well when I put it in gear, I can not slowly press on it without having to really press on it to keep it running.

Any suggestions?

Back to the Build!!

So i finally got back to working on this car.
I was able to pin point that my issue is from a vac leak, or at least I'm 95% sure...

After taking off all the vacuum hoses and trying a process of elimination. The hoses were all good, but there was a leak at the carb, line that goes to the distributor. It had pulled out of the carb when taking the line off sometime ago, and I had pounded it back in, thinking it was all good. Nope.
So I JB Welded it up, put it back on and was pumped to get it running.

The car ran much better, but it still would not idle all that well, it would want to slowly die from too lean. So I brought out the brake cleaner spray can and sprayed the intake, each runner at a time.
It appeared that the middle two runners were also leaking. So I tightened most of the nuts past the 10 ft lbs spec, and started it up.
It did improve some again, I also had RTV sealant between the flexpro gasket and still could not get it perfect.

So I took off the manifolds and put a straight edge on it, and its not perfect. So my conclusion is that since I did not pair the exhaust manifold that came with the 2bbl intake, and used the exhaust manifold that was on the car. That's what made the difference?

So I took the pair still bolted up to a guy who works at a machine shop to get it all trued up. I'm hoping this is my answer...? Not sure what else it could be other wise.

Oh... and random. My oil pressure also seemed to just disappear....? when running, my gauge shows 10psi, same with a mechanical gauge. Not sure if the line got plugged some how? It was the difference of the car sitting for 2 months since running...
I blew out the line, hopefully that's the issue.
This is T'd off the line that goes to the turbo, from the oil pump.
