I don't know who John Milner is, but I simply cannot drive a car that doesn't have working AC. I would love a supercharger that worked with AC, but refuse to give up my AC. So, for now, for me, turbo it is.

John Milner had the fastest car in the valley.

I picked up John hitchhiking in Vidal Junction Ca on the way back from Zihuantanejo a couple of years ago,,,, dropped him at Needles .

He said he likes cars with flat glass.

Hey, give him a break. He's lived in Alaska, currently lives in Washington. Anything over 55 requires A/C to make him feel at home. John Milner is so '70s and drives a Ford. Reed is a child of the '80s...

OK, I looked it up. I haven't seen American Grafitti in years. Great music, great cars, so-so plot. I actually used to have the soundtrack in a double record set and listened to it a lot growing up. But yeah, I grew up in Alaska in the 80s so cruising wasn't really a thing and anything over 65 degrees and I start to melt. Plus, after living in Utah and getting heat stroke several times, I really don't like to play around with getting too hot.

quick question: I am new to the board and even newer to Carb engines and especially a Slant 6 - but does this kit includes "EVERYTHING" needed to install on a Slant 6? I see you would still need a Blow-Thru Carb but what about any Fuel related upgrades to support this HP increase needed?

Originally I was thinking like everyone else (maybe not on this board) to rip out the 6 and throw in an 8 but once I saw this S/C - I figured I could probably work with the /6 and this S/C. I figure use what I already got (clean it all up, new gaskets etc, maybe consider the FiTech EFI kit and the S/C) and should be cheaper

It does not have the blow thru carb or fuel system parts. If you like to roll your own and don't want cookie cutter, then keep the Slant. If you want to bolt stuff together and have it run right with minimal work/tuning, then get the V8. You will get way more attention at a car show or track with the Slant, but it will cost you some time and money.

Motors done and running - need to get a basic tune and hit the dyno - should be able to post more details in a month or so.

Cool! Thanks for the update. I am progressing on building a good motor for my torqstorm kit. ETA around early-mid summer.

All tuned and happy as can be 274 ft/lb and 250 HP at the rear wheels and im at 5000 ft so there isn;t much 02 up here. :-)

Peaks at 4750 RPM

I was able to get a little relief from the blow off noise with this filter K&N RU-1460 Universal Clamp-On Air Filter: Round Straight; 2.75 in (70 mm) Flange ID; 5 in (127 mm) Height; 4 in (102 mm) Base; 4 in (102 mm) Top - slipped right on.

I have no carpet/sound dedener yet so it is mostly a shell but the blow off is still a little loud especially down hills at highway speeds - I'm thinking of trying some alternate valves but rebuilding the front end and finishing some of the interior will come first. All in all a very fun and drivable car with great power.

Thanks!!

Very cool! Glad to hear you are having fun with it. Mine is bolted to an engine and just waiting for me to drop it into my 64 Dart after the paintjob.

What boost numbers are you getting?

I’m peaking at 8-9 lbs but I’m in Colorado at 5200 feet. I have about 1800 miles on the motor at this point. Car runs great and is a blast to drive.

I have some challenges at 90-100MPH with fuel starvation because I have to set the baseline fuel pressure around 9lbs for around town driving or it pushes fuel past the needle at idle :(

Enjoy

Hi gg,

Thanks very much for the report. Sounds like good progress. I feel like Doug Dutra talked about going lean at the end of the track in his Torqstormed Lancer, in his Slant 6 engine book. Maybe he has an idea? I will use EFI on mine, but I'll try to think about the carb metering. Fuel pressure should not be the problem with a carb unless you are band-aiding something about the carb metering. What happened when you just tried jetting up? That does not affect idle.

Happy Slanted motoring,

Lou
