I wish! My good block has a pin hole in the back water jacket, I have had this block for decades. The block in the Colt came from North Dallas and it is JUNK. But it's cool, someone hand painted a message in the bellhousing area so that was cool, it's good for what I am using it for. My third block I sold to Rob for the same reasons as block 2. It would take so much work to make one live, it's just not something I want to do. Maybe Mark Goodman will sell me his trick motor one day.

Today I got an email from Chip Starr in Oregon and he filled in the missing information in the history of my car.
So if you are interested, here is the whole chain from Day 1.
Richard Starkey buys a Red 1972 Dodge Colt from a Dodge Dealer in Kansas City Kansas.
The car is delivered to Don Hardy Race Cars in Floydada Texas.
A semi completed roller car is delivered to Gary Emig in Kansas City Kansas.
Gary installs a Milodon aluminum Hemi and Lenco trans in the Colt.
Gary finishes the car for racing.
The red car gets a Candy Green, Pearl White paint job and is finished as a show car.
The car wins Best Competition car in a Kansas City Auto Show.
Never raced, the car is sold less engine to Tom Kocanda and his partner Donn Patrick.
Tom makes the first drag passes with the Hemi Colt in 1978-1979.
The car runs 8.43 @ 161 MPH in 1979.
Last run by Tom Kocanda with 366 destroked Hemi, 2 runs before spun crank bearings.
Car sold to Bob Cope less engine and trans in 1982.
Bob runs a cross ram hemi and lenco thru 1984.
Bob sells the Colt to Doug Evert in 1984 less engine and trans.
Doug starts BB chebie and glide conversion, hood scoop is changed and car is repainted white with 4 color stripes.
Doug sells car in 1986 to 3 men in Oregon, who finish the chebie install.
Car is raced on and off thru 2017.
Run as a 10.0 car.
2017 car is sold less engine and trans to Chip Starr.
Chip Starr sells car to Sid Ferris.
Sid Ferris sells car to Stan Aiton (ME!) July 24 2019.
Come comes home to Texas and all the bad chebie demons are exorcised!

Thanks to all for the reads and comments. I took the door panel off yesterday and the painter signed the door in Nov 1985. Paint job, even though it's not my favorite, has held up pretty good for 34 years. Still working on front brakes and spindles.

11 hour, 730 mile trip yesterday to visit Mr. Don Hardy. Don built my car in 1973, 36 years ago. Don was the nicest guy, we spoke for a few hours about my car, other cars he built, how it all came to pass and a thousand other things. Close to 80 years old, U.S. Army Vet (thank you Don), race car fabricator, innovator, family man, you name it. Don and his son Donald opened their business to me, showed me all they are up to, (building hundreds of V8 self contained water pumps and power generator units) and Don's private museum. Like a lot of other small towns, Floydada Texas Pop. 3500, there is not a lot of business around the old town square. So Don has purchased a few large buildings and there is where he keeps his large car collection. Here are just some of the pictures I took, Don Hardy and me next to Billy Stepp's Plymouth Arrow, The old race cars shop and the garage floor where my Colt was reborn. The last picture below is one wall of magazine covers, National Dragster covers and other pictures of a lot of the cars Don Hardy built. He built is last car in 1983, Ricky Smith and Bill Glidden got the last 2. I could not begin to list all the people he built cars for. He said at least 20 cars a year for years. Learned more about my car and just had a great time visiting with Drag Race history. Thank you Don and Donald.

Whoa. Very cool, Stan. What did he say when you said you were going to put a Slant 6 in the Colt?

Lou

He had no problem with that! Bruce Sizemore ran a 300 Ford six with a hybred Boss 302 head his brother in-law C.J. Batten created back in the 70's in a Don Hardy Pinto. The man is super cool, he was happy the car was going back out on the track and that it was not being flipped for mega bucks.

Yea, I remember. That got me dreaming about welding 340 heads together and doing the same thing. Oh yea I remember, I didn't have any money then! Or a Pro Stock Car, or a clutchless transmission, or 300 cubic inches, or, or, or.....
