I went up to Gimli Motorsports Park for the weekend (Gimli Manitoba, Canada) and was pleasently surprised with my times. I managed to pull a 14.45 @ 91.85 MPH in my 84 Dodge pickmeup on a 100 Hp shot of juice! :D That aint bad for a 3600 lb truck! I had some nitrous troubles a few weeks back that I got nicely sorted out and she ran fairly consistant all weekend. Only troubles I had was with my power steering pump that decided to puke its guts out sunday morning  . I feel high 13s are possible with a high stall converter and 125 shot!!

-Its almost funny how a high 14 second slant 6 seems to get more attention then the 8 second super gas cars

Yes, quite amazing, isn't it? :D

How much time is the 100 shot chopping off? Mine will lose about 2 seconds and pick up 12-14 mph on 100.

Congrats on getting it sorted out. Joos is addicting, isn't it?

Off the juice she isn't all that amazing. It'll run 17.05 @ 80 MPH all day. I wish I had a 60s car to put my motor in. My uncle has a 65 Barracuda ex race car, but he is one of those ignorant V8 guys who somehow thinks a 6 cyl just can't be fun.

That's great for a 3600 lb barn door! I agree, that engine in a light car would really move. Too bad you aren't around my neck of the woods. Plenty of Valiants and Darts around here. I'm planning a turbo slant in a brand X chassis just to be really different. I've got a bunch of my small block parts collection for sale on eBay to finance the slant.

8) Be patient Sexy, probably right in your own back yard is a perfect race car project just waiting to be found. Lighten it all up, assemble you another slant just like your truck's got (the V-8 crowd GIVES them to me), hook it up behind your truck: BADDA-BING !!! you're racin'!! RICK

Relatively rust free 60's cars show up here in Calgary/ southern Alberta once in a while. . . been looking at all out here?

Neepawa . . . been a while since I was there for a wedding . . . back in the late 80's. I was born in Rivers and grew up south of you around Elgin/Boissevain area.

Congrats on your truck. Way to go!!

That's rockin' and I know what you mean about the V8 mentality. I would have thought the Buick GNX V6 would have settled that argument long ago.

Although - I'm not going to hop up my /6, I'm not going to hop up my /6, I'm not going to hop up my /6, I'm not going to hop up my /6, I'm not going .......................

My motor setup is - 390 Holley on an Offy manifold, ported polished head with stock valves thats been decked .108", block decked .008", STD Sealed Power cast pistons, ARP head studs and rod bolts, Erson .465" solid cam, Clifford springs and pushrods, Mopar dist. and GM HEI module.

Hey, would going to a 450 Holley make much difference??? Anyone tried one? I think the 390 works out well with my small valves, 450 might be a little big.

Buick V-6 is a 231.

450 Holley will probably not make much difference either. I ran a 390 fopr years. Went 12:002@110 on a 160 shot.

My new motor has a 650 DP and went 12:001@108 on a 150 shot through exhaust.

Gallena was the first legal NHRA stocker to run in the 7's in the qtr and he did it with the 207ci version and a single turbo.

To my knowledge a V8 has not done it yet.

Gallina's 7 second car was a twin turbo Super Stocker. His Stocker was in the 11's.

No one could ever explain any reason in hell that a twin turbo car was legal in SS.

Buddy Ingersoll made it into the 6's I believe with a single turbo V-6, but it was a 272 Indy car motor in a Comp car.
