Very nice work, Rick. I tried to order a 66 V decklid from VFN and they sent me one for a Barracuda. They paid the return shipping... Too bad they don't make one that fits our cars. I wonder if we sent them a good donor lid....?

Happy fabbing,

Lou

That is a prefabbed 3AN hose. I think it was actually a brake hose.

Excellent work as usual Rick! :D

Just asking, but what is the difference between a '64 and a '65 deck lid? :?

General shape is the same, but as the 64 gets back close to the back it gently rounds down. The 65 comes to the back and makes a sharper turn down and almost has a 8" flat area where it turns down. The trunk opening is cut to match so they won't interchange.

Hey Rick,

When you get ready for the hood swaperoo, would you mind doing a weight comparison for us?

Sure. New hood is 13 pounds bare. May add a few ounces of aluminum brackets but that would be close. I already weighed a hood and latch I have in the corner and it was 56# I think.

There are the tbars and hinges too - another 5-8 lbs. I got right around 50# for the 64 Dart. Removed hinges and have 5 hood pins holding it. This is the BEST place on the car to take off weight.

Nice! I really need to get a glass hood for my '72 Dart and get some weight off those front wheels! I wonder if getting enough weight off up front would allow me to keep my 16:1 manual box for autocrossing… :?

I removed the hood hinge and the spring and brackets that I made up when I redid the car. They weigh almost 5 pounds each. They will be replaced by these aluminum brackets.

Then these "holey" aluminum plates will get Epoxied and then fiberglassed to the underside of the hood and that will be my rear pivot. Front will get captured hood pins so I can't loose them!!

My Dewalt jigsaw! :D :D

I have a little aluminum supplier / welding shop that I get all my materials from. Usually I can pick up "drops" off the floor for scrap prices and use them for all my little projects.
