That Uber cool lightweight center section leaks pretty good. Time to pull it out for a look see.

Ones strong enough to do this... :(

I believe Norm told me they are 4.56.

I’m about to drop it out. I’ll confirm then.

No way should a light car twist an axle. Must Strange axles. I called them when the axles we had did the twist and Strange said they were fine twisted. I don't worry about it anymore because we replaced them with Mark Williams 35 spline axles.

I will need to replace this one. It’s a shortened stock axle I think.

The other side is aftermarket and looks fine.

You recommend Mark Williams over Strange? What about Moser?

Mark when you went with mw axles were those for chrysler 8.75?

I am guessing the 35 spline went with a 35 spline spool too?

Rob, if you still have the Moser axles you got with my Duster have them cut and resplined. It would save you a couple hundred bucks.

Thanks for that suggestion Dennis. I will keep the Duster stuff all together, just the way I got it from you so many years ago... So we can still trade back at some point.

I had a nice long conversation with Howard Davis yesterday. He had some good suggestions. I’m going to make a trip up there and get some mentoring on some things. He even offered to go through the engine with me to make sure everything is good to go. It’s been just sitting there for 6 years since the initial cam break in, so a good tear down and inspection is a good idea.

The Challenger won’t make any early races, but I will still try to make Clay City.

We will throw the Duster together again I suppose.

My status as a Poser is still secure. :D

If his grandson doesn’t have a Jr. Dragster race that weekend.

He did say that if Barry Harrison is going to be there to race then he and Jason would make it a point to be there.

Apparently Barry bested Jason many years ago and won some beer. They want a re-match!

We will certainly talk about Clay City when I go to see Howard and he helps me go through my engine.

I actually made some real progress on the Challenger this weekend.

I dropped the center section and an axle off at a local machine shop for them to install a new pinion seal and press the bearing off the axle. I will order an axle from Moser to replace the twisted one.

I also took the rear Wilwood calipers off and cleaned everything up so it's ready to go when I get the new axle. One of the rear calipers had grease all over it from the leaking pinion seal and axle seal. I'll take the front brakes off and bleed the entire system next.

The goal is to have everything else on the car ready to go when I bring the engine back from seeing Howard.

I found someone locally that is good with fiberglass and is willing to help me redesign my hood scoop and grill to improve aerodynamics too.
