I cleaned and reinstalled all of the external oil pump lines and Chase helped me flush and bleed the brakes.



The heavy fittings and longer than needed braided lines drove Howard crazy!

Improvements for another day... Just gotta get it together and running for Clay City!!

I took the rear tires off the rims to clean things up and reseat them.

I’m glad (not glad at all) that I did. The wheels have some pretty serious corrosion. To the point where Howard suggested I not use them.

I’ll look for another set of used wheels, but it’s getting “Danger Close” to the Challenger not making Clay City.

What width/back space/and bolt pattern? I've got the ones on the Daytona that might fit under yours.

12” wide with what I estimate to be 2 1/4” back space.... 5 X 4 3/4 Chevy pattern...

I do have one axle with the 5 X 4 1/2 bolt pattern. I suppose I could have the other side drilled too...

Mine are 12" wide, but I think the backspacing is a lot deeper. Not sure they have the Chevy pattern either.

My Lemons partner Adam came over this evening and helped me make some progress on the Challenger.

We fabricated a new mount for the fuel pump and moved the fuel cell down and back just a tad. We started on the front cross bar mount for the fenders, but it was getting late and he has an hour drive home. Progress is progress. Not giving up on the Challenger just yet.

Just wire wheel the wheels or use one of the drill bit scotch brite type attachments on em.

Are you worried about bead seal or the corrosion cutting a tube?

The wheels I'm taking off are 15X12 with 2 1/4" back space.

I can change to 15X10, but I need the Chevy 5X4 3/4" bolt pattern.

I have 5 1/2" from the wheel mounting surface to the inner frame rail, so I want to find something with shallow back spacing.

Most of the wheels I've found have 4 1/2" back space, putting the tire too close to the frame rail.

I'm considering spacers, but opinions vary on how safe that is. Any spacer won't contact the axle register because of the brake rotor, so there will be no hub centricity (that means all lined up good, Cookie )

Wheels with the shanked lug nuts aren't hub centric anyway. The shanks on the lug nuts position the wheels. You sound like a light bulb salesman.

I dropped the wheels off with Jason Lancaster at lunch today. He drives the '55 Chevy called "Unicorn" against them other "Hillbilly Highway" fellers. He owns Competition Auto & Machine in Brandenburg and has a guy in Louisville that will take a close look at my wheels and see if they are still safe or not. If so, he will bead blast and powder coat them for me. If not... I'm still looking for something else...

Jason recently put a Hemi in the Unicorn. He said it has too much power at the moment...
