And now Duster III is up on jack stands about 2 inches away, so it'll just about take an act of congress to get the Challenger out now.

I hate putting all this fun stuff back in storage again, but that's the life of a military guy. :(

I was kinda kickin' around the idea of sneakin' a 904 tranny case and a bare block in my household goods so I can fiddle around with building one of them HA/GR kinda cars while I'm in Germany. I'll tell 'em it's a motorcycle when I come back so they'll ship it back for me.

Hey Stan! Is that aluminum block you just bought too far gone to build..? Ya wanna sell it to me for a "mock up"...?

I'll be moving back to Kentucky in late July, so I can start back to work on my various projects. The Challenger is still up on jackstands cuddled up nice and close to the "Dennis Duster" and my '72 Dart... In a 2 car garage...

So it will take a little time just to move things around enough to get to the Challenger, much less work on it. Not to mention BOTH complete sets of keys to the garage, all of my tool boxes and all of the vehicles were misplaced in the move back in 2014. Don't ask. I don't understand it myself... :(

But I'm anxious to get back to all of my Slanted fun!! See you all soon! :D

The Challenger is in the home garage and I've pulled the engine in order to do a couple oil pan fixes before reinstalling it.

I have the good flowing head from Howard Davis (NOT the aluminum one) ready to go on along with the Ron's Flying Toilet set up so I can run alcohol.

The goal is to have it ready for some test & tune this spring and get some seat time locally before the big Clay City reunion race in September 2018.

We will see Rick. I want to get comfy with it and do most of my initial embarrassing mistakes here locally before I debut it to the "Family"...

Mason-Dixon is definitely one of the races I want to attend though.

This is the "new" Challenger engine that will be going back in once I fix a couple things with the oil pan.

This engine is the one that we fired up in the GodsRods Duster II at Clay City in 2011. I took it home and broke in the cam, then pulled it out of the Duster to put in the Challenger... Where it has been sitting ever since...

When I moved back to Germany in 2014 I put the tape over the bores and loosely bolted a head on it for storage. Now I'm getting things ready for the 2018 racing season and the return of the Challenger... Hmmm,... Challenger II...(?) Nah! Numbered Challengers make me nervous.

This is the oil pan. It has a large AN fitting holding the pickup in the pan that is then fed to the external oil pump. Back in 2010 the pick up must have vibrated loose (after over 4 years of racing) and starved the engine for oil. It boogered up the main bearings (I'll eventually do a complete teardown on that engine and get it back together to put in one of my other many projects).

The pan used to have an aluminum expanded metal screen bolted in it that had come apart.

I've made this new baffle/windage thingy to replace the wire mesh that fell apart. Not sure if I'll use it or not...

I have one of the last Mike Jeffrey crank scrapers too. Maybe I should make a template of it before I button things up...
