My Duster has one of Doug's 198 rod/2.2 piston motors in it. The rod/piston combo, head and windage tray were done by Mike Jeffrey and Blaine Mueller of J&M Engine Dynamics in Lexington, NE. The block was bored +.065" by Larry Lyons in Onarga, IL. I used a Racer Brown 268*/.460" cam, an Offy intake, 390 Holley and a Mopar Performance header. I assembled it myself. The trans is a 904 with V-8 guts done by Keith Long at 727specialists in Highland, IN. A 2000 stall converter from Liberty was used along with a Cheetah valve body and Mopar Performance deep pan. The rear is a 3.91 geared 8.75 with a set of E-body axles cut by Moser. I use Cal-Tracs for traction bars. Sponsorship has been provided for years by Jeff Long at Jeff's Custom Exhaust in Paxton, IL. With a race weight of 3600# I have run a best of 15:62@88.3mph. The car has been a multi-time class winner in Sportsman, No-Box, Box, Footbrake, and Trophy at tracks all across the Midwest and South. Currently the car is cut apart in about a million pieces and being painted by Patrick Teig in Milford, IL. We also are installing a cage, narrowing the rear springs and mini-tubbing it, adding a fuel cell, installing a 'glass hood, deck lid and bumpers, and an Anthony Jones tubular K-frame kit complete with coil-overs, rack and pinion steering, Wilwood brakes, and tubular A-arms. Should be fun if we ever get it done! |
