Most of the month of May was dedicated to the Safety Patrol and the Indy 500 support, then I needed some time to get the outside lawn and bush stuff done for spring.
With that done, on Sunday and today I got a couple of good garage days in.
The dash is installed, some of the new under dash wiring is ran, but not all hooked up, the cabin wiring is about done.
The next items are: the under hood wiring, that includes a centralized relay box and to get the valve spring pressure right I need to have the spring seats trimmed, so its
one more visit to the machine shop. Then I can finish assembling the engine and get WV over for an engine install party.

Degreed the cam today. The ICL is set on 100
I don't do this often enough to remember all the ins and outs,,

I called Charlie S and he had me straightened out in a matter of minutes,
but then we had to talk on the phone for another half an hour,
but that's what having this hobby is all about,, its the folks you meet along the way :D

Wow, I like that big degree wheel. I think I need to replace the smaller one I have been using with one of those. Looks much easier to mount and read.

I also have an eleven inch Summit degree wheel, that I put away somewhere in the garage.
Looked for it several times and was not able to find it. Knowing that all I had to do to find
the lost degree wheel was to buy another, and since I already had one, why buy another one identical
to first one. So I bought this 18 inch Moroso wheel. And I do like it, the way the wheel in marked it is very
easy to time the cam using the ICL method, and you can still get the individual cam event timing.
And of course, because I bought a second the degree wheel, I found the first one,
so I have two.

below is a link to the oil pan part of this project.

with the cam installed I set the cylinder head on the block, with a used head gasket and checked piston to valve
clearance.

on the intake side the gap gets down to .100 right in the OD of the valve relief.
I believe that is a workable gap. Although that is intake valve shrouding.
So I plan to get in there and buff the valve relief open just a bit.

due to cam timing, plenty of room on the exhaust side.

Used the stock pushrods for this trial. There is a cleanup cut on the block and nothing cut on the head, but the
reground cam has a reduced base circle, I had to crank the adjusters completely in to get the valve lash. A project
for this week is getting a adjustable pushrod made and get pushrods on order.
