I'm hoping to find a Quicktime bellhousing from someone who has maybe abandoned a project or changed direction. I'm building a 243" engine and doing the T5 swap. Not looking for a deal, I have the money to make you whole plus some. Haven't been on the board in ages...so just hoping.

Thanks

There are Slant to T5 adapter plates readily available from gill welding for use with the F body / D100 Truck Overdrive Slant 6 Bell housing.

Maybe you need SFI / Steel housing for safety reasons?

Good Luck!

Greg

Nice Valiant.
Someone need to figure a way to modify the common as heck stock bell.
With todays smaller clutches it might be all that is needed.

Gill Welding already has that plate for a stock 833OD or 833 bell!

The 10 " clutch / Truck Pressure plate will fit into the 3-speed bell.

The problem with using a T5 adapter with the 3-speed bell, which I believe Gill welding can make the adapter work on the 3-speed bell transmission bolt pattern, is that the IBR Hole is too small, so you will need to open up the inside of the IBR Ø on that bell housing to fit the T5.

I have never done this swap - T5 onto a 3-speed bell, but the last Adapter Plate that I Bought/ Won is set up for this accommodation.

Seems like a good plot for CARS IV.

Hi Guys,

I already have a custom built WC T5 with 2.95 1st and .73 OD and the Gill adapter kit. Also have a a cast iron and aluminum bell. Car was already converted to four speed by me in 1992, but the tranny finally gave up the ghost after 500k or so miles. Started to feel strange in the mountains during the last two of 15 trips from Portland to the SF Bay area while taking care of my Dad while he was dying. Fortunately, when it blew I was only a mile or so from home.

Problem is that every clutch part # listed in all the threads I've read are not available anymore. I figured I have a lot of work to do on my car, so I have some time and thought if I could find a QT Bell and run a V8 flywheel, as some of you have done, clutch problem solved forever. Also...safety.

My wife is a welder and fabricator, and I own a machine shop, so modifying for starter is no biggie.

Like I said, just hoping to find one before I finish the rest of the car.

Thanks,

Gearhead

Just a FYI. I got a flywheel and clutch from Rick a couple of years ago. The flywheel is for a slant six 130 tooth ring gear. It takes a 11 inch clutch that is recessed into the flywheel. It seems like the original application was a D series truck with a slant and a NP 435 trans. I plan on mocking up this flywheel with a A-833OD trans and bellhousing, to see if this all will fit (I think it will). Found a supplier for the clutch assy. and they can supply the clutch with organic, Kevlar, or combination of disc linings.

Charrlie, won't the larger flywheel / ring gear require a different non 122T starter position?

If so, how is that accomplished?

Greg

Greg, you are correct. Not sure what I was thinking. I was actually working on a 360 for my truck, and wanted to install a BH/flywheel/starter to crank it over on the ground. I was trying different parts, and got this wacky idea. I'll look into to it further after I get my truck running.

My son has a Clutchnet clutch and pressure plate on Ebay right now. Heavy duty Borg & BecK with 6 puck clutch disc. Was installed and ran for less than 100 miles.( I think it was in his truck) This does bolt up to the stock flywheel pattern. Pedal effort was stiff. But it may be something you may be interested in. $180. He probably gave over $400 for it.

PS. Clutchnet was bought up or closed up I think.

I realized what I was doing wrong. I don't have much experience with standard shift parts. And compared the 11 inch flywheel to the ring gear on an automatic. The bell on the automatic is larger than the standard shift slant six bell. That "dished" flywheel does not fit in a slant A-833 bell housing.
Now back to regular programing. Sorry for the hijack.
