Q: Why did the German chicken cross the road?
A: To check and make sure the wastepaper basket over there was appropriately certified and fully type-approved in accord with all applicable DIN standards.*

Got a couple real nice Mercedes clutch fan assemblies for sale. One nylon 9-blade, 18" diameter, 2-3/8" deep from mounting surface to front, condition 9.5 out of 10. One die-cast metal 9-blade, 17-15/16" diameter, 3-7/16" deep from mounting surface to front, condition 9.5+ out of 10 (could very well be brand new but can't confirm or recall).

These are originally for W123 and W116 cars with 6- or 8-cylinder engines, so they're well adequate for our purposes. Staggered blade arrangement cuts down on noise. They are for the correct rotation direction, same as on our cars. Correct bolt pattern to go right onto a Mopar \6 or V8 water pump hub/pulley. The clutch nests within the space of the fan blade itself rather than protruding a few inches forward of the blade as in US-style fans, so these clutch fans requires much less pump-to-radiator clearance than an American-type clutch fan; these were mentioned as far back as 1982 in the Slant-6 News as the hot (cool) ticket for fitting a clutch fan in a 6-cylinder A-body.

B-body, C-body, or truck of any year: Fit with miles to spare.
'67-up A-body: Very easy fit.
'63-'66 A-body: Very likely fit.
'60-'62 A-body: Dammit, Jim, I'm a writer, not a miracle worker.

Your choice, $49 plus postage from Northern Michigan. Send me a PM.

*-My first time in Germany I was very amused that the wastepaper basket in my hotel room had a tag indicating compliance with the relevant DIN standards. No foolin'!
